BGV Development opened a new shopping center in Zhytomyr

BGV Development, owned by Gennady Butkevych, has opened the first shopping center in its portfolio, “Zhyto” (Zhytomyr, 1m Otamaniv Sokolovskyh St.), and plans to open similar retail parks in other regions in the near future, the company’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

“BGV Development continues to actively renovate and build new commercial facilities, in particular, strengthening the regional retail infrastructure. As of the beginning of 2025, we have already commissioned more than 10 thousand sq.m of commercial space and by the end of the year we plan to only increase turnover. Since 2024, we have begun implementing a new format of retail parks for us – a network of small shopping complexes in small cities and district centers,” said Maksym Kovalenko, director of BGV Development.

According to him, such formats not only allow bringing big brands to small settlements, but will also give a boost to the regional economy, in particular, due to an increase in turnover and the number of jobs. For example, thanks to the construction of the Zhyto SC, more than 180 jobs have been created.

As reported, in March, the BGV Development company, which is part of the group, completed the reconstruction of the shopping center premises in Zhytomyr, which lasted six months. The shopping center is located in the historical district of Zhytomyr – Kroshnya and has a convenient location: at the intersection of Otamaniv Sokolovskykh Street and Nezalezhnosti Avenue.

The two-story Zhyto SC has a total area of 3811 sq.m and is built on the principle of a retail park: it has separate entrances to stores from the street, parking near the facades, convenient location of stores for quick access, as well as open architecture without common internal galleries, as in classic SECs. For the convenience of guests and the inclusivity of the premises, the shopping center is equipped with a viewing elevator.

The center has space for 15 shops and cafes: companies of different price categories and segments are represented here, including outlets of well-known brands. Among the companies present in the SC: ATB supermarket, Sinsay modern clothing store (LPP Group), Prostor home goods and cosmetics chain, Andi and Obrana clothing and underwear stores by Anabel Arto, the largest multimarket in Zhytomyr “Avrora”, flower boutique My Flora, pet store “LAPA”, as well as cafes and pharmacies.

At the time of opening, the shopping center was 96% full, reported the UTG company, which is responsible for developing the concept and exclusive brokerage of the project. It is expected that the shopping center will be visited by about 120 thousand guests monthly.

BGV Group Management is an investment group founded in 2015 to create innovative and highly effective businesses focused on the production of high-value-added products. The company has five business areas, within which it develops projects in mining, energy efficiency, retail, development and education. The founder of the company, Gennady Butkevych, is also a co-owner of ATB Corporation.

As reported, Since 2022, BGV has focused on the development direction, given the priority of restoring and building new residential, commercial and other infrastructure facilities in Ukraine. In June 2024, a new company, BGV Development, was added to the group, which deals specifically with development projects. At the end of 2024, BGV Group Management and SAGA Development signed a strategic partnership agreement, the first joint project was Boston Creative House.
