According to UTG experts, in 2024, the attendance of shopping malls in the capital of Ukraine demonstrated gradual positive dynamics. The company\u2019s analysts calculated that the average daily attendance of Kyiv shopping malls as of January 2025 was 383 people per 1,000 sq.m of GLA, in contrast to the beginning of last year, when shopping malls were visited by an average of 367 people per day. According to the conclusions of experts from the UTG Strategic Consulting Department, district-format shopping malls demonstrate greater stability in attendance (507 people) compared to regional (308 people) facilities. At the same time, district-format centers (mainly with goods and services of daily demand) are least prone to fluctuations in attendance. But after the war, the decline in attendance will be especially noticeable in outdated, inconveniently located, and losing popularity facilities.<\/p>\n
According to experts, the attendance of district-format shopping centers in 2024 amounted to 507 people per 1,000 sq.m of GLA, compared to 501 people in 2023. The attendance of regional-format shopping centers increased even more, from 280 people per 1,000 sq.m of GLA in 2023 to 308 people last year.<\/p>\n
According to the results of the coronavirus years 2020-2021, ~ 44% of the population began to visit shopping facilities less often, and the average market attendance rate at the beginning of 2022 decreased to 506 people. But due to the war and the closure of shopping centers, attendance dropped to a historic low of 291 people in mid-2022. Despite negative factors, the gradual restoration of attendance is facilitated by: the liberation of part of the occupied regions, the return of the population to their hometowns, the reorientation and restoration of logistics chains, and the opening of international department stores (\u201cLPP\u201d, \u201cCaliope\u201d, \u201cMango\u201d, \u201cadidas\u201d, \u201cMcDonald\u2019s\u201d, \u201cH&M\u201d and \u201cInditex\u201d).<\/p>\n
